چکیده

Polymeric membrane-based-Styrofoam waste in the form of a thin sheet was successfully prepared by phase-inversion technique different final solidification treatments, namely, immersion and evaporation. This study aims to identify effects processes on membrane properties such as hydrophobicity, pore configuration, porosity, temperature stability. Characterization carried out using contact angle, SEM, FTIR, TGA, porosity tests. The results showed that an increase Styrofoam 18-30 wt.% dimethylformamide (DMF) solvent decreases hydrophobicity 9.5%. average angle 62–80° indicated obtained treatment. subjected evaporation treatment hydrophobic. Moreover, microscopy image shows immersed denser than evaporated membrane. higher exchange rate between non-solvent (water) produced tight free air. polystyrene from exhibited excellent stability up 350 °C. In addition, mechanical strength affected employing processes. were also tabulated statistical point view validate conclusions. following information can provide basic knowledge for modifying optimize zero-waste goals.

Experimental Investigation of Phase Inversion of Liquid-Liquid Systems in a Spray Extraction Column

An experimental study of the phase inversion behavior of liquid-liquid dispersion has been conducted in a spray extraction column for systems of toluene / water, n-hexane/water, CCl4/water, toluene /water + glycerol (25 % wt), toluene + CCl4 (25 % wt) / water and toluene / acetic acid (5 % wt)/water. The effects of physical properties, mass transfer and column geometry...

Phase Inversion in Liquid-Liquid Dispersions

Background In a system of two immiscible liquids, usually water (or an aqueous solution) and an organic liquid (e.g. an oil), there are two general types of dispersions which can be formed depending on the conditions of the system. A water-in-oil (W/O) dispersion is a dispersion formed when the aqueous phase is dispersed in the organic phase and an oil-in-water (O/W) dispersion is a dispersion ...

Liquid-Liquid Extraction Using the Composition-Induced Phase Separation Process

This paper describes a new separation process of liquid-liquid extraction. It consists of first mixing the system to be extracted with a primary solvent, which is soluble with the native solvent, and subsequently adding a modifier, which is insoluble with either the native or the primary solvent. This process is similar to the phase transition extraction, which was described in a previous paper...
